I have a problem I have never faced before. I have a modest 24 page document in InDesign. It is to be output as a low res PDF. The problem is it takes forever to export, I mean hours. The file itself is only 5 or so megs. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have scoured the net and have found nothing.

I have tried leaving the linked images in their native file format. I have tried converting them to EPS, JPG PDF. What is the best format?

Try tiff format for your links.
Make sure your links are NOT embedded (this creates a huge file).

Can you "Save As" pdf instead of export? Also, once you save/export your pdf, you can "Optimize" it down to low res for emailing.

Good luck!
