My name is Katie Mendenhall and I recently graduated from Benedictine College with a degree in art with an emphasis in graphic design after only 2.5 years.
I have had a great deal of graphic design experience both at college and in a previous summer internship. During my tenure at Benedictine, I have taken numerous classes that have introduced and given me experience in Adobe CS3 and CS4 Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Flash. Through these classes, I have had the opportunities to edit photos, create advertisements, and design websites. Besides just using these skills in my class assignments, I had the chance to be the fall 2009 Yearbook Design Editor for the school’s yearbook and be a student graphic designer for the Marketing and Communications department at the school. These positions allowed me to expand my knowledge in layout and gave me even more experience with InDesign.
In addition to my design experience at college, I have spent the last two summers doing graphic design work for two different companies. This past summer I was a technical assistant at the Cooperative Extension office in my county and redesigned their county website while I updated it to a new program. The previous summer I was fortunate enough to have an internship with Iron Horse Design in Visalia, CA. As an intern, I received hands on experience by laying out ads and redesigning logos for clients.
I am currently looking for a position where I could use the skills I have learned in graphic design. I expect that several of my strengths will be quite transferable, such as my attention to detail and my ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. My portfolio can be viewed at
